Tees Valley Celebrates Becoming a Dementia Friendly Hospital!

A dementia friendly hospital means that the team there are aware of and understand dementia so that people can be understood, respected and supported. Once you have set out an action plan and the team at Dementia Action Teesside are satisfied your organisation are actively working on the actions committed to, they approve your plan.

Karen Blakemore, Head of Clinical Services at Tees Valley said,

“I’m absolutely delighted that Tees Valley Hospital’s application to join the Dementia Friendly Community has been approved. It’s a testament to our commitment to delivering an exceptional care experience for all. We have had a great deal of support from our local Dementia Action Teesside representative, and we are currently in the process of refreshing our local Dementia Strategy which will help us to ensure that patients living with dementia (and their carers) are empowered, respected and valued as individuals.”

This is when the team at Tees had the pleasure of meeting Marie from Dementia Action Teesside, who handed Emily, Karen & Julie the certificates and window stickers.
