Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis at Exeter Medical

What is Hyperhidrosis?

We recognise that excessive sweating can be embarrassing, cause low self-confidence and interfere with personal and professional progress. The problem may be generalised or localised to certain areas such as the underarms, palms, soles, face, scalp, groin and under the breasts.

Here at The Westbourne Centre, we are able to provide a range of different treatments for excessive sweating, depending on the site and nature of the problem and whether it is localised to one body area or more widespread. Treatment options include:

  1. Prescription strength lotions and creams
  2. Botulinum toxin injections - this is the treatment of choice for excessive sweating in the armpits
  3. Oral medication - this can help excessive sweating which is generalised and affecting the whole body
  4. Advice on iontophoresis - this is the treatment of choice for sweating that affects the palms and soles
  5. Referral for surgery
