Meet Miss Fiona Irvine

Fiona Irvine is a highly qualified Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Exeter Medical and specialises in a broad range of conditions including eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), droopy lids (ptosis), tear duct repair (punctoplasty), treatment of skin cancer of the eyelids and periorbital area, watery eyes and entropion/ectropion repair.

She began working for Exeter Medical ten years ago having been a Consultant for four years. Her senior ophthalmic training was in Cambridge and then Glasgow. After which she was appointed to the prestigious fellowship in Melbourne, Australia with Alan McNab. Ms Irvine said:

“By the end of my year-long fellowship in Australia I had seen and treated all eyelid, lacrimal and orbital problems and had excellent experience. I was then appointed consultant in Northampton where I set up an Oculoplastic Service before moving back to the Westcountry”. “I would stress to anyone considering eye surgery that it is so important to choose the right surgeon who takes pride in their work, is qualified and suitably experienced. At Exeter Medical we strive to offer you the safest and most effective eye surgery, whether it is corrective or cosmetic.”

One of the most common treatments performed by Ms Irvine is blepharoplasty – a common procedure and generally safe operation. Blepharoplasty is an operation to remove excess upper lid skin which is causing eye bags or folds. Rejuvenating upper eyelid surgery can make you look younger and more alert and relieve eyelid heaviness and brow strain. Your eyelids also play an important role in the function of your eyes and vision, so it is important to keep them working properly as well as looking good.

With the eyes being such a sensitive area, it is understandable most patients are nervous before undertaking surgery. Ms Irvine creates a very relaxing, informal environment for all patients undergoing local anaesthetic procedures by taking great care to ensure any treatments are delivered in a sympathetic way and as pain-free as possible.

Unlike some high street chains, patients will always see a qualified consultant every time and most minor procedures can be seen and treated on the same day at Admiral House.

We always ensure we fully understand your condition and lifestyle before identifying your treatment options and then help you choose the best one for you.
