Fitzwilliam Hospital supported the Light Project Peterborough again this year with presents, food, and toiletries. The staff at Fitzwilliam choose this local charity as it really makes a huge difference to the lives of the broken-hearted, the oppressed, and the poor in our community.
Hospital-wide, the Fitzwilliam teams collected food to give to the Light Project Peterborough.
On Fitzwilliam’s inpatient ward, the 50-member strong team decided to give a secret gift to the Light Project instead of Secret Santa gifts for each other.
Rebecca Hawes, Ward Manager says, “No-one should be hungry at Christmas and everyone should have a gift to open on Christmas Day. When considering Secret Santa, staff often struggle to buy an appropriate gift for colleagues, so this year we decided as a team to do something different whilst improving people’s lives at the same time.”
The Light Project Peterborough sent a list of things they struggle to get for the people in the city who greatly appreciate their support. This included hoodies and sweatshirts, jogging bottoms, thermal socks and vests, blankets, backpacks and hats and scarves. Staff could choose what to buy from the list in the knowledge that their gift would really make a difference to a needy person’s life.
Inpatient Ward staff really pulled together to make this happen and enjoyed a festive team spirit of giving and wrapping the gifts. They amassed over 60 wrapped gifts, 50 selection boxes and boxed cakes for the Light Project Peterborough. What an achievement!
On Friday 22nd December, Healthcare Assistant, Chanice Pauley, helped deliver the wrapped presents, food and toiletry provisions to the Light Project Peterborough, ready for them to be given out to guests by Santa the following day.
