Nipple reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure used to decrease the size of the nipple and may also include reshaping of the nipple. The procedure is most commonly requested by women who feel self-conscious by the size of their nipples which is causing them emotional distress.
Nipple reduction surgery involves making small incisions in the nipple in order to remove excess tissue. It will normally be carried out under local anaesthetic which will be used to numb the area, however sedation may be offered.
During your consultation, your consultant will discuss your concerns and offer advice on the surgical options available to you.
You must have a medical or psychological necessity to be eligible for plastic or reconstructive surgery at one of our Ramsay hospitals. Your consultant will guide you through a thorough assessment process. If needed, our multi-disciplinary team, potentially including a psychologist and / or other specialists, will review your case to confirm the medical necessity of your treatment.
