You will go home the same day or stay overnight in hospital depending on the amount of fat being removed.
You will have tight bandages or compression garments placed on the treated area to reduce swelling and help the body adapt to its new shape. You will be advised how long you should wear this.
It’s also likely you will have considerable bruising that will gradually fade.
The amount of time off work will depend on the extent of your liposuction. If you only had a small amount of fat removed, you should be able to return to work within a few days but more substantial liposuction may require up to two weeks off work.
You can gently return to normal exercise after three to four weeks but you should avoid strenuous activity for ten to 12 weeks.
You should not drive until you feel comfortable wearing a seatbelt.
