Bupa UK Insurance, the leading health insurance provider and Ramsay UK, a leading independent healthcare provider, have agreed a new four-year contract that reinforces their commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare for customers.
Under the new agreement, Bupa and Ramsay UK will work together to explore new ways to improve and develop their proposition for customers. The partners are committed to expanding key Bupa specialist cancer care centres in the areas of breast, bowel and prostate, offering market-leading oncology services with enhanced speed of access.
Both businesses are also committed to taking meaningful action on climate change and have set ambitious science-based targets for reducing their carbon emissions across all scopes. Bupa and Ramsay UK are aligned in their goal to reach net zero emissions by 2040 and will collaborate closely to reduce their environmental impact.

Bupa’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 targets approved by the SBTi are as follows:
- Reduce our absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by at least 46.2% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.
- Reduce our absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, including insurance-related services, business travel, downstream transportation and distribution by at least 63% by 2034 from a 2019 base year.
- Align our investment portfolio with 1.5 degrees by 2040 and achieve 25% of the required reduction based on temperature alignment by 2025 from 2020 base year.
‘Ramsay Cares’ is Ramsay Health Care’s vision for being a sustainable, resilient, responsible global business. The Ramsay Board has approved the following net zero targets from a 2020 baseline year :
- Near-term target - A near-term science-based target of a 42% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 20302
- Supplier engagement – Engagement with suppliers making up 80% of Ramsay’s spend by 2027 to encourage adoption of reducing emissions in line with science-based targets; and
- Long-term target - Long-term science-based target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain (Scope 1+2+3) by 20401
