I had a hip replacement at Woodthorpe, Nottingham 5 days ago. I have to say how good the whole process was from the start to now. Everyone concerned was kind, efficient and supportive. I have never had a major operation before so was very nervous, however I was very supported and reassured. I had a long wait before going down to theatre, but everyone helped to put me at ease. Nursing Staff assigned to me were excellent, and included Sally, Michelle, Naomi and Kelly, but there were many other medical and non medical staff involved too. The catering staff and physio were also superb and excellent. I have nothing but praise and thanks to everyone involved. It went smoothly from the pre op meeting to leaving the car park with my new hip, and the telephone check up for progress two days later from Michelle. My wife was worried about getting me in the car post op, but there was no need for worries as I was escorted and helped by Sally into the vehicle and waved off. I now have appointments booked for clip removal, physio and follow up telephone consultation with Mr Badhe. The room, facilities, environment and food were excellent. It was nice to have a spacious room without being cramped. If I had to give a comment for an area for improvement: - I was the last on the theatre list and it would have helped if I had been kept more accurately up to date about my likely surgery time. That said, when my wife asked for update information we was given that information as best they could at the time quickly and promptly. Thank you to everyone involved, very much appreciated.
