Newly elected Member of Parliament for Torbay, and Liberal Democrat Work and Pensions Spokesperson Steve Darling MP has visited Ramsay Health Care UK’s Mount Stuart Hospital to see the work of the hospital to deliver for patients across Devon and the wider South West.
Prior to Steve’s election as the Member of Parliament for Torbay Constituency in July - which includes Torquay and most of Paignton – he served as a local Councillor for over thirty years, including four years as Torbay Council Leader.
During the visit, Steve toured Mount Stuart Hospital with Hospital Director Jeanette Mercer, and met with local consultants, nurses and the wider staff team who deliver services for local patients. The hospital is fully equipped with an ultra-clean air theatre suite, particularly suitable for orthopaedic procedures offered such as arthroscopy, hip, knee and ankle replacements. Mount Stuart hospital opened in 1984 and has 26 bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities to ensure complete privacy for patients.
During the visit, Steve also found out about the close working relationship between Mount Stuart Hospital and local NHS Trusts in Devon and beyond. A key part of Ramsay’s role to deliver for patients as part of the wider health community, providing additional capacity, and ensure patients can get the care they need, when they need it.
