Purpose Coalition Engagement Director and former Member of Keir Starmer’s Shadow Cabinet, Nick Forbes CBE has visited Purpose Coalition partner and leading independent healthcare provider, Ramsay Health Care UK, to see first-hand its work at Tees Valley Hospital. Nick Forbes leads the Purpose Coalition’s work on engagement with the Labour Party, advising members on Labour Party policy, particularly in the context of the party’s Missions for government. Nick previously served as Leader of Newcastle City Council, and Leader of Labour in local government, as the voice of thousands of Labour Councillors in Westminster. Nick also served in Keir Starmer’s Shadow Cabinet from 2020 - 2022 providing crucial insight as the party formed its plans for government. During the visit which was hosted by Ramsay UK CEO Nick Costa and local Hospital Director Donna Thornton, Nick toured the hospital to see the services on offer, which includes orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology and diagnostic services. Nick also took part in a staff roundtable, hearing first-hand how Ramsay delivers high quality healthcare locally, whilst also providing strong social impact for colleagues and the wider community.Tees Valley Hospital opened in February 2018 and is part of Ramsay UKs network of private hospital services. The hospital is Teesside’s newest private hospital situated on the doorstep of the Tees Valley community and provides surgical, medical and assessment services on the grounds of Acklam Hall in Middlesbrough.
