Ramsay Health Care Highly Commended at the HSJ Independent Healthcare Providers Awards 2025

Ramsay Health Care is delighted to announce that The Berkshire, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Shared Learning Network (BOBSLN) has been officially recognised as ‘Highly Commended’ for the Excellence in Clinical Innovation at the inaugural HSJ Independent Healthcare Providers Awards 2025, in recognition of an outstanding dedication to support of the NHS and improvement in healthcare services.

With 5 separate categories this year, the winners were announced during a ceremony held at Evolution London, on 20 March 2025, hosted by Rachel Parris and Marcus Brigstocke. The event was incorporated into the HSJ Partnership Awards and over 1200 attendees gathered to celebrate and recognise the invaluable contributions of IHPs to the NHS.

In fact, the HSJ Independent Healthcare Providers Awards are not just a celebration of success stories but also provide a high-profile platform which can help to shape the future of the new integrated health and care system.

The judging panel was made up of a diverse panel of 70+ highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community. All finalists and winners were judged against 5 clear criteria: ambition; outcome; spread; value and involvement.

Our Berkshire, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Shared Learning Network (BOBSLN) was initiated by Berkshire Independent Hospital, one of our 34 hospitals across the UK. The network brings together seven local healthcare providers to discuss safety incidents and initiatives, designed to share insights, improve communication, and enhance patient safety practices.

By introducing innovative practices, such as specific risk assessments, the network has seen a significant reduction in incidents. BOBSLN highlights the positive impact of collaboration in improving patient care and making local healthcare operations more efficient.

Elaine Long, Hospital Director at The Berkshire Independent Hospital, shares,

"The Berkshire Independent Hospital launched the Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Shared Learning Network (BOBSLN) following a serious event at a neighbouring hospital, realising the value that could be gained from sharing learning from such events.

The concept developed by our Head of Clinical Services, Lucinda England and Deputy Head of Clinical Services, Jessica Clarke, was launched several years ago and now encompasses membership from both the Independent Sector and NHS hospitals across our ICB.

I am extremely proud  that my team have been recognised with a High Commendation Award in the Excellence in Clinical Innovation category at the recent Health Service Journal Awards. This award truly acknowledges the inspired effort of the team in the promotion of patient safety."

Lucinda England, The Berkshire Independent Hospital's Head of Clinical Services said,

“We were absolutely delighted to be recognised by the HSJ for Excellence in Clinical Innovation! After a serious event in a neighbouring hospital, The Berkshire Independent Hospital realised there was no formal mechanism for sharing learning from patient safety events across the region. So, we started our own network including the local private providers and the ICB, but led by the independent sector- the first network of its kind!

We are so happy to be able to highlight the great work this network achieves and we are looking forward to growing the network across Ramsay over the next year”

The 'Highly Commended’ were selected following a rigorous two-stage judging process ahead of the joint HSJ Independent Healthcare Providers Awards and HSJ Partnership Awards 2025 ceremony.
