At Ramsay, we work in close partnership with Consultants to ensure our patients always receive the best possible care.
Consultants engaged by Ramsay have agreed to Ramsay’s Facility Rules and hold Practicing Privileges in order for them to provide independent medical services at a Ramsay hospital. When a Consultant applies for Practicing Privileges, a comprehensive application process is undertaken to ensure both clinical capabilities and a cultural fit with The Ramsay Way. Once a Consultant is granted Practicing Privileges, our continued credentialing process allows Hospital Directors to ensure continuing oversight and governance of the services provided by Consultants.
Consultants (including anaesthetists and radiologists) are required to have appropriate and adequate medical indemnity cover, and agree to provide their independent medical services in line with our Facility Rules, Policies and Procedures. Often a consultant will also provide their services for the NHS and other Independent Providers.
The care and treatment you receive at a Ramsay hospital will involve separate arrangements with Ramsay and with your Consultant. As a private patient you, or your private medical insurer, will receive an invoice from your Consultant for their fee and from Ramsay for the hospital fee, however in some instances Ramsay may also collect the Consultant’s fee on their behalf.
