This year Ramsay Health Care celebrates 60 years of global expertise in healthcare. We have interviewed some of our people who form a key part of our success, providing outstanding patient care across our network of Hospitals.
We speak to Nicola Ratcliffe, Receptionist at Oaks Hospital as she celebrates 41 years with Ramsay Health Care UK.
How long have you worked at Ramsay and what is your current role, what role did you start with and what role(s) have progressed through?
I started working at The Oaks Hospital in March 1983 when it was run by the Colchester Catalyst charity. I started working on reception working alternate Sundays 9.00 – 14.00. I then moved through the Business Office working for many happy years as a Senior Credit Controller both at Oaks Hospital and Springfield Hospital. Choosing between early retirement a position became available on reception at Oaks Hospital which I could not refuse and returned to my happy home.
What is your most memorable experience/ greatest achievement you've had during your time with Ramsay?
There are just too many memorable experiences but the thing which always gives me the greatest joy is as a patient leaves their smile and a thank you as well as with fellow work colleagues.
What do you love most about working for Ramsay?
My fellow work colleagues all around the hospital. Leaving at the end of a shift with the feeling of a good job well done.
What is something that makes you smile during your work day?
I am smiling now as I read the question (whoops now tears well up) I am so very lucky and grateful to be working at Oaks Hospital where I feel I can still contribute to the patients and staff well being.
Why would you recommend working for Ramsay to someone else?
Just purely because I find Oaks Hospital such a wonderful place to work, all thanks to my colleagues.
