Dr Hamid specialises in head & neck cancer, he is a core member of the MDT at Mid-Essex Hospital and takes an active role in radiotherapy research.
After graduation and initial basic training in general medicine, surgery and A&E, he started specialist training in Egypt at the Oncology Department of Cairo University Hospitals (Kasr El Eini) and Maadi Armed Forces Hospital, in Cairo, Egypt. He obtained his MSc degree in clinical oncology in 1990.
In September 1995, Dr Hamid became the Registrar in Clinical Oncology at The Middlesex Hospital, University College London Hospitals Trust. He left this post in 1998 and started a staff grade role in clinical oncology at the Princess Royal Hospital, Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
In 2002 Dr Hamid stepped into the Associate Specialist role where he stayed until 2013 when he joined Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist.
