Dr Wijeyekoon trained in medicine at Imperial College, London. As a medical undergraduate he completed an intercalated BSc (Hon) degree in immunology and microbiology. He was awarded a prestigious MRC UK Training Fellowship, studying molecular biology at Oxford University. He has an interest in basic medical research and has published a number of papers. His specialist training in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine was at a number of different London teaching hospitals. He was acting consultant in Rheumatology at the Hammersmith Hospital, London before taking up a permanent consultant position at East and North Herts NHS Trust, where he is lead clinician for rheumatology biological services.
