Dr Dayavathi Ashok is a Consultant Rheumatologist in Essex, who has a special interest in Early arthritis, Connective tissue disease and wide range of Musculoskeletal disorders.
Dr Ashok has a special interest in Early arthritis, Connective tissue disease and wide range of Musculoskeletal disorders. She also has expertise in treating conditions such as Soft tissue rheumatism, Osteoarthritis, Neck and Back pain, Carpal Tunnel syndrome, Osteoporosis, gout, polymyalgia rheumatic, temporal arteritis and chronic pain syndromes/Fibromyalgia. Dr Ashok performs the following procedures; Aspiration of knee, ankle, shoulder and wrist joints and joint injections. Any soft tissue injections such as tennis elbow, golfers elbow, trochanteric bursitis, carpal tunnel injections and trigger finger injections.

She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate study in General Medicine in India and came to the UK in 2000. She did her senior house officer training mainly in and around London and completed her MRCP in 2002. She completed her training in Rheumatology and General Medicine from Oxford Deanery in 2008. Dr Ashok was appointed to the Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, Chelmsford in July 2017 as a substantive Consultant Rheumatologist. Before moving to Chelmsford, for 9 years she was a substantive Consultant Rheumatologist at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, Durham. She was leading the Early Arthritis Service in her NHS Trust. She has maintained a strong interest in medical education. She was Foundation programme tutor for 6 years (2010-2016) and MRCP regional lead for North-East England during 2016-2017. She is also an examiner for the Royal College of Phycians (MRCP) and member of Scenario Editorial committee for Membership examination. Dr Ashok has an active interest in research and she is the principal investigator in various multicentre clinical trials in the NIHR portfolio.
