Dr Ghosh looks after patients with a spectrum of gastrointestinal problems including reflux disease, peptic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, anaemia, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, rectal bleeding, gastrointestinal (oesophageal, stomach, pancreatic, liver and colorectal) cancers, chronic abdominal pain, chronic constipation and other colorectal diseases. His specialist area of interest is management of patient with acute and chronic liver disease (including viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, primary biliary cirrhosis, autoimmune liver disease and metabolic liver diseases e.g. fatty liver) and advanced endoscopy (including stenting, dilation, variceal banding, PEG insertion and ERCP). Academic Background
Dr Ghosh, MB BS MD MRCP, graduated from India in 1994 and moved to the UK in 2001. He undertook specialist gastroenterology training at the London Deanery (South West Thames rotation) and was trained in several of the London hospitals. He has undergone specialist training in the management of liver diseases in the world famous Kings College Hospital's Liver Unit and subsequently St Georges Hospital. He is trained in advanced endoscopy including ERCP and spent his final year of training at St Georges Hospital, one of the national centres of excellence in endoscopy. He was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2010. He is the lead for hepatology of the trust and departmental lead for Audit. He is keen on research and is the Principal Investigator for the ongoing multi-centre chronic liver disease trial.
