Dr Datta qualified from the prestigious Calcutta University in India. He subsequently completed MD (Doctor of Medicine) and DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in Paediatrics from India. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, London (FRCPCH). Dr Datta obtained his higher specialist training in Paediatrics from East of England Deanery (Cambridge). He joined Broomfield Hospital as a Consultant Paediatrician in 2010. Prior to this, he was a Consultant Paediatrician in East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. Dr Datta is the Paediatric Gastroenterology lead at Broomfield Hospital, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, Chelmsford. He was previously the Clinical Director for Children Services. He is the Designated Lead for Child Deaths at NHS Mid Essex. He is a senior examiner of the membership examination of Royal College (MRCPCH). He is also an undergraduate (MBBS) examiner at Queen Mary University, London. He is an editorial board member of Paediatric Care Online (PCO), an online healthcare tool of RCPCH. He was previously Royal college and undergraduate tutor. He sits on many interview panels of doctor's recruitment and training nationally. Dr Datta has presented at both national and international Paediatric conferences and has received awards. He has published in peer reviewed journals. Dr Datta has special interest in food allergies, and he carries out allergy test (skin prick test) in the clinic if required.
