Dr Sacha Goolamali is a Consultant Dermatologist who has worked at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH), Reading since 2014 and was the Head of Department. Although his main NHS base is now King's College Hospital, London he still undertakes Specialist sessions at the RBH.
He underwent his medical training at the Imperial College School of Medicine, London qualifying in 2000. After completing general medical training, predominantly in London, he specialised in Dermatology. Dermatology appointments were as a Senior Clinical Fellow at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (C&W), London, before becoming a Specialist registrar at the renowned King's College Hospital, London and the St John's Institute of Dermatology at St Thomas' Hospital, London.
On completing specialist training in 2010, he was appointed to C&W as a Senior Dermatology Clinical Research Fellow. Through national, open and peer-reviewed competition, he was awarded the prestigious British Skin Foundation research fellowship (2010-2012) and has undertaken research as part of an MD under the auspices of Imperial College looking at the role of HPV and immunogenotype in non-melanoma skin cancer/pre-cancer in HIV. This work continued whilst appointed by C&W as a locum Consultant Dermatologist (2011-2013). The project is the largest of its kind in the world and is ongoing.
Through his research he has presented Nationally and Internationally and has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. Dr Sacha Goolamali is based at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London and the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Reading but sees private patients at the Berkshire Independent Hospital.
He was skin cancer lead for the RBH, chairing a weekly multidisciplinary skin cancer meeting and has further interests in HIV and male genital skin disease, having set up one of the few multidisciplinary male genital skin clinics in the country.
