Dr Rahman was appointed Consultant in General, Internal and Respiratory Medicine in 2001.
He previously received his Registrar and thereafter Senior Registrar training at various prestigious University Hospitals in England. He was based for several years at Sheffield University Hospitals (Royal Hallamshire & Northern General Hospitals) and thereafter for 5 years as a Senior Research Fellow and Senior Registrar at Imperial University Hospitals including Hammersmith and The Royal Brompton (National Heart and Lung Institute) Hospitals.
Following his Consultant appointment at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals he established a modern respiratory department including facilities for various sub speciality clinics, Fibre-optic bronchoscopy service additionally a Respiratory ward for inpatient care of acute complex patients. Owing to his previous and long research experience interests additionally includes beta receptor polymorphisms affecting Asthma phenotypes.
He was one of the first group of Doctors who acquired experience in the utilisation of PET imaging in the diagnosis of lung inflammation and Lung Cancer staging and management. Overall he has a very broad experience of Respiratory and General medicine and endeavours to see patients holistically, aiming to unify the broad ranging symptoms into a tangible diagnosis.
More recently he was appointed as a “Sub Dean” for the whole of undergraduate student's body based at ESTH, mainly from St George's & Imperial Medical Universities. He has been supervising and chairing The Medical Audit Department for the last at least 10 years. Qualifications: MB BS MRCPΙ
