Dr Stuart Harris qualified in Medicine from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College in 1995. He undertook his post graduate training in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology in London and Edinburgh. He was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in April 2005 before moving to the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre in August 2007 to lead the development of arrhythmia services for Essex. He was Clinical Director for Cardiothoracic Services at Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust from 2013 to 2020 and laterly Medical Director at Southend Hospital from 2020 to 2024. He was elected to Council of the British Heart Rhythm Society from 2014-2020 including being Treasurer from 2018-2020. He has been a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University since 2013 and is currently the Clinical Placement Lead for the School of Medicine.
Dr Harris specialises in the investigation and treatment of heart rhythm disorders including catheter ablation for both simple and complex arrhythmias and device therapy including pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure.
