Academic Background

I have served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon since 2013 and have also been practicing at Peterborough City Hospital since 2020. My focus spans elective and emergency cases, with a sub-specialization in shoulder and elbow surgery. I have a particular interest in managing painful, stiff, and dislocating shoulders. I perform arthroscopic (keyhole) shoulder surgeries to address issues such as rotator cuff tendon tears, shoulder dislocations, recurrent instability, and primary repair and reconstruction of dislocated acromioclavicular joints. Additionally, I am experienced in both anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacements, and I treat conditions such as golfer's and tennis elbow, along with early to moderate elbow arthritis. My practice also includes treatments for carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, and Dupuytren's contracture of the hand. I specialize in trauma surgery for both upper and lower limbs.

I completed my basic medical training at Christian Medical College in India from 1987 to 1993. Afterward, I served as a medical officer in rural mission hospitals across India from 1993 to 1995. I then undertook advanced surgical training as a specialist registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Christian Medical College from 1995 to 1998. Following this, I worked as a Lecturer and Reader in Orthopaedics at the same institution, where I practiced and trained medical students and specialist registrars from 1999 to 2004. Later, I continued my training at Yeovil in the Severn Deanery and achieved my FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2007 from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Fellowships:
In 2013, I completed an advanced surgical fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital in Bristol. In 2021, I attained the Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Research & Publications:
I am actively involved in research, with 30 orthopaedic publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, as well as 29 combined oral and poster presentations at prestigious orthopaedic societies.

Faculty:
1. I serve as an MRCS Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, conducting examinations both in the UK and internationally. As an MRCS examiner, I find it essential to identify doctors with strong surgical potential who can drive the progression and development of surgical specialties in the future.
2. I am a panel member of the Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel (ODEP) UK committee. ODEP is an independent panel of experts that provides objective ratings on the evidence supporting the performance of medical implants. The goal is to collaborate with surgeons, manufacturers, and hospitals to promote evidence-based implant selection, ensuring patients receive the highest quality and safest implants.3. I also serve as an interview panellist for the national recruitment of Trauma and Orthopaedics, participating in candidate interviews and selection annually. This role enables me to help recruit top candidates who will become the next generation of orthopaedic consultants

I am married with two young daughters and fluent in both English and Hindi. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, traveling, and listening to music.
