He successfully completed the Higher Specialist Training programme in the UK by working at Birmingham Eye Centre, St Paul's Eye Unit in Liverpool, Leicester Royal Infirmary and at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Mr Ilango has written chapters in Ophthalmic text-books, involves in pioneering research & lectures at International Eye Conferences. He regularly trains junior doctors/Fellows and his training been rated as one of the best in the UK. Mr Ilango is the 1st Eye Surgeon to have used the Carl Zeiss AT LARA Lens Implant & XENIA Corneal Implant in the UK. Mr Ilango is a Royal College of Ophthalmologist certified Laser Refractive Surgeon (Cert LRS). He has been appointed as a Responsible Officer by the NHS England and the General Medical Council to monitor standards of refractive surgeons. Mr Ilango runs a Charity Eye Hospital in rural India providing free eye treatments to the poor people; he has been nominated for the ASCRS Chang Humanitarian Award.
