Chris McLean was a medical student at St Mary's Hospital in London and trained in Ophthalmology as Registrar and Senior Registrar at Moorfield's Eye Hospital. His interest in facial plastic and lacrimal surgery developed during a fellowship year spent working in the world renowned Oculoplastic Surgery Department at Moorfield's Eye Hospital. He was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust in 1999 where he set up and developed the Oculoplastic Surgery Service.
