I have been a Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon since 2010 and deliver a wide range of services through the NHS and Private Sector, including the elective and emergency management of vascular disease (arterial and venous problems) and access for patients requiring dialysis for kidney failure.

My Mount Stuart focus is on venous disease, in particular varicose and thread veins. I believe all patients should have timely access to professional counselling and treatment for what can be a very troubling condition.

I offer full ultrasound-based assessment and counselling through a half-hour consultation in my clinic.

Being based at Mount Stuart Hospital gives me the opportunity to offer both formal varicose vein surgery under general anaesthesia, and ambulatory treatment for varicose veins. Most clinics are unable to offer these options.

Ambulatory care
For ambulatory care, we have a streamlined process with the use of compression hosiery and treatment using foam sclerotherapy, liquid sclerotherapy and Clarivein catheters.

Clarivein catheters work through occluding the major varicose veins using a combination of mechanical and chemical irritation. Because there is no heat, there is no requirement for multiple injections of local anaesthetic, and there is no risk of thermal injury to the nerves or soft tissues.

Treatment takes no more than half an hour.

All self-pay patients receive a first treatment and six-week top-up (if required) as part of their package. Fees are agreed prior to treatment.

Surgical care
Formal venous surgery is delivered through the Day Surgery Unit in most cases. The option of an overnight stay is available, if required.

Insurance-based care
I am registered with all the major insurance providers and am happy to support any application for treatment.

Patient Support
All patients have direct access to me via email, in addition to secretarial and ward-based support.

I encourage contact regarding questions, concerns or for advice and guidance.

Quality outcomes
I maintain a register of all venous treatments and ensure my results are comparable to other providers.

Patient feedback is available through iwantgreatcare and the Private Healthcare Information Network, PHIN.
