Mr Farinella completed medical school at the University of Palermo in Italy. Surgical training was at the University of Perugia and Milan in Italy where MD qualification was achieved. Spent last 2 years of surgical training at the St Mark's Hospital and Royal Marsden Hospital to gain exposure to complex GI and colorectal cases. Further specialist training in Laparoscopic and open GI surgery was obtained on the highly regarded North-West Thames rotation in London and a Laparoscopic fellowship with colorectal sub-specialty interest. Mr Farinella has published many research papers, conducted numerous research projects and clinical audits, and presented his work at several national and international conferences. He is also part of the Cochrane collaboration Injury Group and Colorectal Cancer Group. He is promoter and responsible of several quality improvement projects to elevate the standards of the emergency surgical care (Hot Clinic and Sepsis management).
