Mr Habib Tafazal is a Consultant Breast Surgeon in Peterborough, specialising in Breast Cancer Surgery
His specialist area is exclusively breast care, breast cancer surgery and all breast related problems. As an Oncoplastic Surgeon, he integrates plastic surgical techniques with breast cancer surgery to preserve and enhance aesthetic outcomes without compromising disease control. He has undertaken specialist training in breast cancer and reconstructive surgery and completed an Oncoplastic Breast Fellowship in the West Midlands during the latter years of his higher surgical training.
Before completing his medical school training he was awarded a BSc for a degree in Biomedical Science. He was also awarded a Cellular Pathology prize as part of his qualification. He completed his medical training from Leicester- Warwick Medical School in 2005 and undertook his surgical training at a number of prestigious hospitals in the West Midlands and completed his FRCS with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Habib deals with both benign and malignant breast conditions. His breast cancer work involves treating patients identified through the symptomatic and screening service. He has experience in the use of implants for reconstruction and has used a variety of smooth, textured and polyurethane coated implants. He uses biological meshes for implant based reconstruction and offers patients both sub-pectoral and pre-pectoral breast reconstruction. Since coming to Peterborough Habib has introduced the use of a complete dermal sling for implant based breast reconstruction which omits the use of biological meshes in certain cases and the Goldilocks procedure which allows reconstruction using the patients own mastectomy skin flap. He has been trained in lipomodelling and uses this as an adjunct to other reconstructive techniques. During his Fellowship Habib also performed a number of breast reconstructions using the patients own tissue and muscle (LD reconstruction).
