Academic Background
Mr Currie trained at St Thomas' Hospital in London qualifying in 1992 achieving a first class degree in Anatomy and Honours in Surgery. He completed his basic surgical training in London, Oxford and Bristol and subsequently moved to New Zealand as a registrar in Plastic Surgery. Mr Currie was awarded the Mark Hannah research fellowship in 1999 and returned to the UK to work at the Blonde McIndoe Centre for medical research in East Grinstead where he completed an MD in wound healing. He was awarded the European Tissue Repair Society award in 2002. Having become a Fellow of the Royal College in Plastic Surgery in 2006, he undertook cosmetic surgery training in Bristol, Australia and New Zealand.
