His postgraduate orthopaedic training was on the East of England training programme which included Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. After this, he undertook two Fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery in Melbourne, Australia and on his return to the UK was on a Trauma Fellowship before obtaining his Consultant post. He was appointed Consultant to the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2014 and practices specialist shoulder and elbow surgery in the NHS and private sectors.

His specialist interests are in shoulder and elbow arthroscopy and joint replacement. He is active in both research and training. He has published, amongst other conditions, on rotator cuff repair, elbow arthroscopy and sternoclavicular joint anatomy. He has contributed to textbooks of orthopaedic surgery and has reviewed scientific articles for international medical journals.
