Mr Hemmady qualified from the University of Bombay in India and passed the MS in Orthopaedics in 1992. He holds a full time Orthopaedic Consultant post at the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust since 2004. During his training he has worked in the joint replacement units at Cardiff, Oswestry and Wrightington and passed the FRCS (Tr. &Orth.) examination in Feb 2003. He did the lower limb arthroplasty fellowship at Wrightington where he gained extensive experience in primary and revision hip and knee replacements. He specialises in primary and revision joint replacements of the hip and knee and also performs arthroscopic surgeries of the knee. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious American travelling fellowship of the British Hip Society to visit centres of excellence in the USA and Canada. He has published extensively on various subjects in orthopaedics and has a large number of publications in peer reviewed journals. His research interests include total hip replacements in dysplastic hips, long term outcome of different prostheses and comparing the results of replacements performed through different surgical approaches to the hip. Mr Hemmady is a keen teacher and examiner for the MBChB (Manchester Medical School), an examiner for the FRCS (Tr. & Orth) of the JCIE. Mr Hemmady is also an instructor on the MCh Orth Course of Edge Hill University at Wrightingon Hospital. He is a Senior Lecturer at that University
