Mr Muti Abulafi is a Consultant General Surgeon in Surrey
Mr Abulafi deals with all aspects of colorectal disease including; Colorectal cancer, Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopies, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Diverticular Disease, Functional Bowel Disorders (constipation, incontinence and prolapse), Haemorrhoids, Fistulas. Also has a special interest in Keyhole Surgery for bowel problems.
Mr Abulafi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal Society of Medicine.
He is also a Member of the Association of Surgeons and Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.
Mr Abulafi is also a member of the Association of laparoscopic surgeons of GB & Ire and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery.
Mr Abulafi graduated from Cairo University and obtained fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 1988. He was awarded a Master of Surgery degree (MS) from the University of London in 1993 for his research work on the role of intraoperative photodynamic therapy in colorectal cancer.
After a period of surgical training at the Royal London and St. Thomas' Hospitals, Muti was appointed as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Croydon University Hospital.
He has since developed a wide ranging academic and research interest. Mr Abulafi is also involved in teaching young surgeons and he organises an annual surgical teaching course at the Pelican Centre in Basingstoke.
