Mr Walker qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1999. He trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Edinburgh and Wessex, incorporating a 6-month trauma fellowship at University Hospital Coventry and an 18 month hand and wrist fellowship at Wrightington Hospital. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013 and was completed his orthopaedic training in 2015. He works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Walker was a Medical Officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps for 20 years, retiring in 2019. His long military service included a three month tour as the sole UK surgeon to Afghanistan in 2009, providing experience beyond that seen in the NHS.
