Mr. Andreou provides consultations for all general ophthalmology patients but specialises in glaucoma and cataract patients. He uses the latest laser and surgical innovations and glaucoma MIGS procedures and uses Premium Toric and Multifocal Implant technologies on cataract patients who wish to be spectacle independent.

Academic Background

Mr Andreou qualified in Medicine from the University of Southampton in 1990. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1996. As well as receiving a generic grounding in Ophthalmology he also competed specialist training in glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital as a Fellow in 2001. Appointed as a consultant for Mid-Essex NHS Trust in 2002, his NHS practice is based at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford where he set up specialist glaucoma and paediatric clinics. He has been audit lead, representing the Ophthalmology Directorate on the Medicine Management Committee and the Health Technology Appraisal Committee. In 2007 he was made clinical lead in Ophthalmology. His interest in research has lead to 20 published research papers in pier reviewed scientific journals. As a keen teacher and trainer Mr Andreou was regional advisor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for training between 2003 and 2006. Currently, he is an educational supervisor for foundation year two trainees in hospital practice and interviews specialist trainees in Ophthalmology for the Eastern Deanery.
