Mr Qutayba Almerie is a Consultant Upper GI, Bariatric and General Surgeon. He is based in Manchester Royal Infirmary (part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust).

After graduating from medical school in the top of his class, Qutayba received extensive postgraduate training in general, laparoscopic (keyhole), and upper gastrointestinal surgery across in the Yorkshire region leading to the completion of his specialty training in Upper Gastrointestinal & General Surgery (CCT).
Qutayba then pursued further specialisation in weight loss (bariatric) surgery. He undertook the prestigious Phoenix Health Bariatric Surgery Fellowship. During this 2-year fellowship, he was trained on all aspects of bariatric surgery under the mentorship of the internationally renowned Professor David Kerrigan; the former president of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS).

Qutayba is deeply involved in medical research. He has published over 40 medical articles and co-authored few book chapters in the field of obesity and weight loss surgery. He has also presented his research findings at national and international conferences.
Qutayba serves as a regular reviewer for multiple high-profile medical journals, including the Obesity Surgery journal, the official journal of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity & Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
