Mr Ravindra Date currently holds an NHS practice at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust affiliated to Manchester University, where he has been working for the last 12 years. Prior to this he worked as a Bariatric surgeon for two years 2009-11 in Luton and Dunstable Hospital. Mr Date has completed a CCT Bariatric fellowship in Brugge, Belgium in 2008.
He is a JAG accreditated trainer for Upper GI endoscopy and a member of the professional organisation AUGIS.
As Mr Date's committment to continued medical education, he has developed a course for 'Advanced laparoscopic suturing' that is accredited by Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, where it is run twice a year. In 2023 he presented a webinar series on 'Techniques for laparoscopic benign UGI surgery' on RCSEd platform. He is an examiner for MRCS and FRCS examinations.
He introduced a formal research program in his department. In collaboration with UCLan, he supervises one MD/ PhD student every 2 years. As a recognition of his work UCLan has offered him a title of Honorary Professor.
