After qualifying from Liverpool Medical School in 1999, Mr Austin gained his Basic Surgical Training in the Mersey Region. After a year as an Orthopaedic Research Fellow at Arrowe Park Hospital and Honorary Research Fellow at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Mr Austin entered his Specialist Training in the Northwest Deanery. It was there that he developed his interest in Spinal Surgery.
Mr Austin trained in Spinal units at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, the Regional Spinal Unit in Hope Hospital and the Royal Preston Hospital where he works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon. Mr Austin's major interests are in the degenerate spine, cervical to lumbar, offering microdiscectomies and micro-decompressions, as well as open and percutaneous fusion procedures. He also has an interest in vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty procedures as well as offering injection procedures.
