Mr Mushtaq graduated in 1995 and completed his basic and higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedic in Yorkshire. He undertook his first post CCT spinal fellowship at the Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His senior spinal fellowship was at AO Spine reference centre at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff. He undertook prestigious fellowship training at the Imperial College Healthcare London and gained further training in cutting edge latest spinal techniques in Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany and the USA.As a spinal surgeon Mr. Mushtaq regularly performs microdiscectomy, spinal decompression, cervical and limber spinal fusions, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, spinal injections and management of osteoporotic spinal fractures. Mr. Mushtaq performs over 100 spinal procedures a year on the NHS. Mr. Mushtaq is actively involved in developing and expanding spinal services at the Lister Hospital. He is responsible for teaching higher surgical trainees for trauma and spinal surgery. His research interests are in the role of minimally invasive spinal surgery. He has published in peer reviewed scientific journals and has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences.
