Mr Saket Tibrewal is a highly experienced Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in knee and sports surgery. He is triple fellowship-trained at international centres of excellence (Sydney, Melbourne & Oxford) and has a busy practice covering all aspects of knee surgery, which includes partial and total knee replacement, arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery, knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage regeneration and biological (non-surgical) treatment options for knee pain.
Mr Tibrewal has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2016 and is currently appointed at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. Mr Tibrewal was educated in Oxford and London. He studied Medicine at the Royal Free & University College Medical School (UCL), London, graduating in 2001. His specialist Orthopaedic training was on the prestigious Percivall Pott Rotation in London and he was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2011. He obtained his specialist Certificate of Completion of Surgical Training in 2014 following which he embarked on international sub-specialist training. He spent six months with Dr David Dickison in Sydney, Australia, where he received advanced training in all aspects of knee surgery, gaining particular expertise in computer-navigated arthroplasty. He then spent a year with A/Prof. Andrew Bucknill at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Prof. Richard de Steiger at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, Australia where he trained in complex arthroplasty and trauma reconstruction.
He subsequently returned to England and spent another year dedicated to knee surgery at the world renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, gaining expertise in unicompartmental (partial) knee replacements. Mr Tibrewal has further significant international experience, having received advanced specialist training at many centres of excellence around the world. This has helped to ensure that he offers the latest and best solutions for his patients.
He has been recognised for his excellence in the field of orthopaedics, having been awarded the BOTA-IOSUK travelling fellowship to India (Mumbai & Coimbatore); the EFORT travelling fellowship to Switzerland (HUG Geneva); the BOA travelling fellowship to Germany (Endoklink Hamburg); the AO International Trauma Fellowship to Canada (Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Toronto) and the HCA Foundation Scholarship (Melbourne). He was further honoured to be one of only two surgeons selected for the highly prestigious triennial ESSKA-SLARD travelling fellowship, where he visited the best hospitals and surgeons in Latin America to share his knowledge and experience as well as gaining valuable insights into the latest treatment options around the globe.
Mr Tibrewal is well published, having authored several book chapters and a significant number of articles in peer-review journals. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics & Trauma and a peer-reviewer for prestigious Orthopaedic journals, including The Knee and the Bone & Joint Journal.
