Mr Bhandari completed his Basic Surgical Training in Kent and Higher Surgical Training in East Midlands, rotating through University Hospitals of Leicester and affiliated hospitals, specialising in Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgery. His areas of expertise include laparoscopic surgery for colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic hernia repair, laparoscopic gall bladder surgery and surgery for minor colorectal conditions. He undertook research into desmoid tumour in Familial Adenomatous Polyposis in St Mark's Hospital from 2010 to 2012, attaining an MD for his work from Imperial College London. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2018 and was appointed as a substantive Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon in Peterborough City Hospital in November 2019. He is a keen teacher. Mr Bhandari actively oversees trainees at differing stages of their surgical career and instructs on a number of national courses for trainee surgeons. He has been involved in various research projects and has published many scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
