Mr Butt is a Consultant Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgeon. His elective practice comprises exclusively of surgery to the shoulder and upper limb. He performs keyhole surgery for a range of conditions such as for rotator cuff disorders and shoulder instability, as well as open surgery such as joint replacements for arthritis.
Mr Butt graduated with honours from the University of Birmingham in 2004. His early surgical training took place in the Midlands, before he returned to Manchester for specialist orthopaedic training. This culminated in him being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012.
He holds UK fellowship training from the renowned Wrightington Upper Limb Unit and Stockport Shoulder unit. Mr Butt was awarded the prestigious ESSKA (European) travelling award, which he undertook with a leading international surgeon in shoulder and sports surgery in Milan, Italy. In recognition off his expertise in upper limb surgery he has been awarded the coveted Mayo Elbow Fellowship at the most recent British Elbow and Shoulder Society Conference in 2017 enabling him to work alongside and exchange ideas with other leaders in upper limb surgery from the USA and around the world.
He has produced a number of authoritative articles and book chapters on the management of upper limb and orthopaedic conditions and has published and presented his work internationally with multiple prize-winning accolades.
