He did his basic science research from the University of Sheffield on Purinergic neuro-transmission in functionally abnormal human urinary bladders. He did European Fellowships in Female Urology/ Continence at Padova, Italy and in Neuro-Urology at Leuven, Belgium. Mr Kumar is currently working as a General and Reconstructive Urologist at the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals and is the clinical lead.
