Professor Alexander Bennett is a Consultant Rheumatologist, clinical academic and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London.

He has a keen interest in research as well as clinical aspects of rheumatology and sports medicine. He has published widely, in particular in the fields of early diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of seronegative inflammatory arthritis/ spondyloarthritis/ ankylosing spondylitis, in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, and in sports and exercise medicine. He lectures regularly at national and international rheumatology and sports medicine conferences.

He is the secretary of the British Society of Spondyloarthritis and a leading clinician in the field of spondyloarthritis in the UK and internationally.

His specialist training from 2001-2008 took place in centres of excellence including Guy'sand St Thomas' Hospitals London, Leeds Teaching Hospitals for Rheumatology, and for Sports Medicine at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre, Melbourne and the Centre for Health Exercise and Sports Medicine, University of Melbourne,Australia.

He completed his Masters degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine while in Melbourne, Australia and completed an award winning PhD on the role of MRI in early diagnosis and prognosis of inflammatory seronegative arthritis at the University of Leeds.
