Assessment and treatment of breathless, heart failure, hypertension (high blood pressure), palpitations, syncope/pre-syncope, faints, cardiomyopathies, irregular heart rhythms; high cholesterol, heart valve disease.

Professor Garg graduated from the University of Manchester in 1999, and after postgraduate training in Lancashire became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2002, following which he started his specialist training in cardiology in Yorkshire. Between 2008 and 2010 he worked at the Thoraxcentre, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, undertaking research which culminated in a PhD thesis entitled, ‘Risk Stratification in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Revascularisation' which was awarded cum laude by the Erasmus University, Rotterdam in 2011. Following a year as an Interventional Fellow in the Midlands he started his Consultant post in East Lancashire in 2011.
He performs approximately 600 angiogram/angioplasty procedures per year, and his annual inpatient and outpatient workload is well in excess of a thousand patients covering all aspects of cardiology including management of coronary heart disease, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, cardiomyopathies and heart failure.
He has served on several national committees including the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society research committee (2013-2017) and the National NICOR Percutaneous Coronary Intervention audit steering committee (2016-2021). He was also the Greater Manchester National Institute for Health Research Cardiovascular Specialty Co-Lead between 2015 and 2022. He currently acts as a reviewer with the Royal College of Physicians invited service review team.
He remains active in the field of interventional cardiology research and has published over 190 papers in peer reviewed journals, 9 book chapters, together with giving numerous presentations at national and international meetings. He is Honorary Professor of Cardiology at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston.
