The use of 3D printed guides and 3D planning has revolutionised the treatment of patients who need shoulder replacement surgery. Mr Uppal’s unit is the most experienced in using this technique in the United Kingdom and the whole team works together to provide the most accurate and up to date shoulder replacement surgery.

With this package of care, you will see Mr Harpal Singh Uppal, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, and a CT scan will be performed. Mr Uppal will then perform the surgery virtually in 3D on a computer to plan the surgery in every detail. Mr Uppal then creates a 3D printed titanium guide which he then uses during the operation to guide him in reconstructing the shoulder. This gives his patients the very best care possible. Importantly due to the specialised and complex nature of this planning there are currently very few units that offer this type of personalised bespoke surgery.
