Dr Morwenna Opie is a highly experienced Clinical Health Psychologist with specialist skills in supporting patients with physical health conditions. She uses evidence-based and NICE recommended psychological interventions, delivered in an accessible, positive manner, and tailored to individual needs, to encourage healthy behaviours and improve quality of life and physiological outcomes. Dr Opie is qualified in providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as mindfulness therapies which are proven to improve mental and physical health. Mood, anxiety (including OCD) sleep, diet, grief, trauma, adjustment, fatigue, activities and relationships are all important factors which respond well to innovative psychologically informed therapeutic approaches. Dr Opie completed her undergraduate degree at Cambridge University where she won subject and college prizes. She obtained her PhD in clinical health and psychology at UCL and completed her studies in New Zealand where she specialised in anxiety, neurophysiology and clinical health psychology. Dr Opie has had previous appointments in private mental-health, cardiology, rheumatology and ophthalmological settings. She also works in the pain service at RCHT Treliske, reflecting her commitment to integrating psychological health routinely into physical healthcare settings, and working collaboratively with other healthcare specialists. Dr Opie's strives to create a relaxed, safe and genuine relationship with her patients, to be more self-accepting, compassionate and able to make life-long changes. Dr Opie has recently moved back to her native Cornwall, and is relishing the opportunity to raise her two children in this therapeutic part of the world.
