Mark is a consultant colorectal and general surgeon and Deputy Head of School of Surgery for Yorkshire and Humber Health Education England.
He graduated in medicine from Leeds University and completed his senior training in the North West Deanery and Manchester.
His research interests include micro-vascular changes in cancers. He has published several papers on trans-anal micro surgery and has been Principal Investigator in Bradford for the International Early Rectal Cancer Study called STAR-TREC.
Mark is a trained endoscopist and colonoscopist, in particular managing early rectal cancer.
He is also an expert in transanal excision of rectal polyps using microsurgical techniques and robotics.
His general surgical work covers surgery for gallbladder disease, intra-abdominal pathology, hernias and in particular is an expert in proctology. The majority of his surgery is using minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery.
Mark is a former staff governor at the Foundation Trust, where he also served as our council of governors’ vice-chairman for a number of years.
