Aru is an experienced Specialist Laparoscopic Colorectal and General surgeon, working at Duchy Hospital and RCHT as a Consultant over 20 years. He gives comprehensive advise on complex inflammatory bowel disease, Colorectal cancers and anal conditions such as Haemorrhoids , Anal fistulas, Pilonidal sinus and anal fissure. He works as part of the Colorectal multidisciplinary team at RCHT and is a talented Colonoscopist.
Aru has operated on successfully in his early career around 300 open complex colorectal cancers, in addition to another 400 Laparoscopic Colorectal cancer resections. His mortality rate and complication rates such as anastomotic leak are among the best in the Country and he has been benchmarked regularly.
He also offers all aspects of General Surgery such as laparoscopic and open repairs of inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias and incisional hernias. He undertakes approximately 300 hernia repairs every year in the private and NHS and has performed overall around 5000 hernia procedures. In Cornwall he is one among the Surgeons who operates on such high volume of patients with good success and feedback.
