The Yorkshire Clinic

Total Knee Replacement

Orthopaedics

As an active individual with a passion for adventure sports like climbing, mountaineering, scuba diving, and distance walking I never imagined needing a knee replacement. However, one day while walking on the moors during Covid, my left knee collapsed. The pain was severe, and the restricted movement made it impossible for me to continue with my hobbies.

Following this, I consulted my GP, who referred me to The Yorkshire Clinic, a name I was already familiar with. As the owner of a small company, no children of my own, but with two stepchildren and an active life, being in pain was not an option. After undergoing X-rays, it became clear that I needed a total knee replacement.

From the moment I arrived at Ramsay Health Care's The Yorkshire Clinic, the care I received was fantastic. The entire staff, from the clinical team to the domestic workers, made me feel welcome and comfortable and I cannot praise them enough. My consultant, Mr Leggetter, Orthopaedic Surgeon, was amazing throughout my entire journey. His professionalism, expertise, and kindness reassured me that I was in the best hands.

Whilst I am still undergoing recovery, I can already tell that the knee replacement will make a significant difference to me in my life. Making the decision to undergo treatment was not easy—it’s a scary step to take. But for anyone who wants to live life to the fullest and pain-free, it's a very sensible one. The moment I received the appointment to have my surgery at a Ramsay Hospital, it felt like I had won the lottery.

I chose Mr Leggetter as my consultant because of his reputation, and our first meeting confirmed that I had made the right choice. His continued support throughout this journey has been nothing short of fantastic, and I couldn't be more grateful. For anyone struggling with pain and unsure about the next step, I recommend The Yorkshire Clinic.
