Dr Graterol is interested in seeing patients with chronic pain of multiple origins. Most patients will experience pain as part of many medical conditions and sometimes it is difficult to precisely identify the cause. A new patient appointment allows an initial holistic assessment of pain presentation and a discussion regarding potential treatment options.
Conditions most commonly seen are: back pain, sciatica, knee or shoulder pain, neck pain, headache (after seeing neurology), post surgery pain, neuropathic pain, CRPS and widespread pain. Treatments on offer include: medication advice, interventional techniques (injections, nerve blocks, epidurals or nerve ablation) and other complementary strategies like TENS or acupuncture.
Dr Graterol has been a Consultant in Pain Medicine based in Cornwall for more than 10 years.

Dr Graterol moved to the UK on completion of his undergraduate medical training in Caracas, Venezuela. Post graduate training in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine took place in Bristol and Severn Deanery. After becoming a Consultant, pursued an interest in Patient reported outcome measures and Spinal Cord Stimulation becoming the Lead for Pain Implants at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. He took on senior management roles including Associate Medical Director with focus on Quality Improvement. Completed an MSc in Genomics Medicine at the University of Exeter and is currently a Senior Clinical Tutor and Lecturer at University of Exeter Medical School.
