Dr Reshma Rakshit is a Consultant Gastroenterologist who has been working in Chelmsford since 2009. She began practising at Broomfield Hospital where she was the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Lead and the Lead for Endoscopy Training. She now provides a Gastroenterology service in the Springfield Hospital, where she is also the only female Colonoscopist. She has returned to the NHS at Broomfield Hospital since 2020 and continues to practice privately at Springfield Hospital and Spire Hartswood Hospital.
Owing to her extensive medical experience, she has an invested interest in all aspects of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. She graduated in Medicine from India in 1997 and thereafter completed Specialist Training in the University Hospitals of Leicester, culminating in a CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in 2009. Previous to this, she researched the effects of Inflammatory Bowel Disease on Bone metabolism and was awarded a Masters in Health Services Research by Nottingham University in 2006. She has a postgraduate certificate degree from University of Southampton (2018) on Allergy and Immunology.
She has a keen interest in Neurogastroenterology and sits on the Neurogastroenterology Committee of The British Society of Gastroenterology.
Furthermore, Dr Rakshit has general gastroenterology experience including inpatient, outpatient and interdisciplinary review of patients.
Challenging herself to learn new skills is a key part of her enthusiasm for life. She has become a proficient swimmer and sewist!
